Special events ....

Recently, all the Toastmasters Clubs in the area got together at the Bird and Bottle Sporting Club in Croydon, to celebrate the Toastmasters Area Bash! A great night for Members of Lilydale, Yarra Vally, Knox, Rowville, Dandenong Ranges and Ringwood Toastmasters Clubs.

So, what is an Area Bash?

Simple! All the above Clubs join together, Members and their partners, for a lovely meal, and a variety of fun and frivolous entertainments, quizzes, impromptu speaking, and the like, amidst the camaraderie of a great bunch of people.

The real purpose of this annual event though, is to sort out the friendly rivalry that naturally occurs between common interest groups, by seeing which Club can present the best skit!

Consequently, all who attended were treated to a marvelous, if not totally professional, array of performances, from mock Shakespearean farce, through complete madness and silly hats, to song, dance and mime from all who participated, with Ringwood coming out this years victors, presenting a cavalcade of stars, including Harry Secombe, Shirley Bassey, Tom, Jones, Judy Garland, Elvis Presley, and The Seekers! Even the Man From Snowy River turned up!

                                    We’re all still laughing!

This night of fun totally dispels the myth that a Public Speaking Club is a load of old fuddy-duddies and stuffed shirts, for Toastmasters involves folk of all ages and walks of life, all keen on improving themselves in an enjoyable and laughter-filled environment.

The Area Bash is just one of the social activities found in Toastmasters, where learning the skills of presentation, and conquering the often daunting task of Public Speaking are competently addressed amongst friendship and understanding.

Competitions ....
Toastmasters also have competitions during the year to provide members with opportunies to develop skills. Competitions are contested in a friendly, supportive and keen manner.
